‘Omicron is Dangerous’, Warns WHO Chief Amid Surge

The WHO chief cautioned that the novel Covid-19 strain is a “dangerous” virus as countries fight to stop the Omicron-led Covid outbreak.

“Although Omicron produces less severe illness than Delta, it is nonetheless a hazardous virus, particularly for individuals who have not been vaccinated,” WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a press conference.

The World Health Organization’s director-general emphasized the importance of vaccinating 70 percent of the world’s population by the middle of 2020, citing data showing that just 5 percent of individuals in low-income nations had been vaccinated against COVID-19. As of now, just 50 percent of the world’s population has been completely vaccinated, 9 percent have been partially vaccinated, and 41 percent have not been vaccinated at all.

On Twitter, he voiced concern and wrote:

“We must speed up our efforts to expand production, remove trade barriers, and share doses to vaccinate 70 per cent of populations in ALL countries by mid-2022. #VaccinEquity will save countless lives.”

The WHO has previously released a statement saying that Omicron is not a “common cold or a minor sickness,” but in reality, there are grounds to be concerned. The infection must be taken carefully since there is still a danger of hospitalization and even death.

Four elements affect the danger of the COVID variation, including how fast it spreads, how effectively the vaccination works, and so forth, according to the World Health Organization.

“Baby Shark Dance” has become the first Youtube video to reach 10 billion views, making it the most-viewed YouTube video of all time. Pinkfong’s song has surpassed all previous records. On January 13, the song became the most-viewed video on the platform, making it the most-watched video of all time.

The song now has 10,007,488,090 youtube views as of the time of this writing. Hope Segoine, is the voice behind the superhit song “Baby Shark Dance.” Pingfong, a South Korean corporation, posted a song on YouTube in June 2016 that quickly became popular throughout the world.

The song shows two adorable kids shaking their legs to the song “Baby Shark Dance.” The track was a Billboard hit, peaking at No. 32 on the Hot 100 and No. 38 on the worldwide charts.

Clint Arlis, the alum of Kaitlyn Bristowe’s reality show ‘The Bachelorette’ has passed at the age of 34. A lot of fans from the show and Clint’s friends took to the internet to mourn his loss including his former coach.

What is ‘The Bachelorette’?

The Bachelorette is a reality dating show originally started on 8th January 2003. It has a total of 18 seasons and 203 episodes.

It is a spin-off show of the original show ‘The Bachelor’. The show is a quest of a woman who is given a chance to date multiple men over a certain period and in the end, decide whom to marry.

The show aired on ABC and it was a massive hit among the fans. Alum Clint was also featured in the show but he was eliminated in the third week but he certainly left an impression on the fans.

Clint Arlis’ Life and Career

Clint was born on 29th July 1987 to Coach Tom Arlis and his wife Jamie and elder brother to Taylor Lulek. He was best known for his appearance in the 11th season of the reality dating show, The Bachelorette.

Arlis had a master’s degree in civil engineering and architecture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign which he received in 2010. According to his ABC profile, he was a movie lover and some of his favorite movies were Gladiator, Tommy Boy, and Good Will Hunting.

He considered his father as his inspiration and learned from his father’s creative drive, ingenuity, and work ethic.

After the show, Clint showed interest in returning to Texas. According to his LinkedIn profile, he had the experience of 9 years in the Chicago building market where he managed preconstruction and construction stages on many projects in various building typologies as a project manager, and he was looking for a similar position in either Houston or Austin.

Clint’s Fans and Family’s Tribute

A lot of people who were familiar with Clint and his family took to the internet and grieved his death. Clint’s high school wrestling coach Scott Bayer took to Twitter and shared a thread of tweets while mourning for Clint.

Bayer’s tweet said: “It is with a heavy heart and a sense of profound loss that we announce the death of one of the Batavia Wrestling Program’s All-Time greats, 2005 graduate, Clint Arlis. I have come to know Clint over the years since I joined Tom’s coaching staff and the Batavia Wrestling Family in the late fall of 2005, after his graduation. I have found him to be extraordinarily devoted to his family and deeply committed to the sport wrestling at a level few of us have ever reached in our careers.”

Clint’s sister was the one who shared the news of his death and asked for everyone to give them some privacy as they mourn for him. The cause of Clint’s death remains unknown for now.

Also in this preview release, “Programs and Features” has been renamed to “Installed apps” in the Windows+X shortcut menu, and Voice Access may now be pushed to the taskbar and opened as a shortcut. The Clock app can also be deleted. It’s an exciting moment to be alive!

Even while Microsoft has issued certain improvements as part of minor Windows updates and many apps are already updated via Windows Update, it is unclear when the modifications which are currently being vetted in the Dev channel will reach the general public. A powerful earthquake shook Indonesia’s Java Island on Friday. According to the United States Geological Survey, the reported magnitude of the earthquake is 6.7. Even the buildings in the capital of Indonesia were seen shaking.

According to a report by the US Geological Survey, the high magnitude earthquake hit the island’s southwest region at 37 kilometers below sea level. The time at which the earthquake hit Java Island is being reported as 09:05 GMT.

Damage Caused Due to The Earthquake

BMGK, Indonesia’s meteorology agency in a report said that the quake that occurred in the Banten Province was not that strong and did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. Well, that’s a relief.

When asked if there was any damage that occurred because of the earthquake, the spokesperson of Indonesia’s disaster mitigation agency did not give an immediate response. Although the agency did claim that they had received reports of some damages that occurred in Pandeglang situated in Banten but no further details were provided.

BMKG reported that no casualties were found and people were advised to stay indoors after they were done recording the 5 aftershocks. The strongest earthquake aftershock reached a magnitude of 5.7. Yikes!

The initial magnitude of the supposed earthquake recorded by the agencies was 6.7 but it was later downgraded to 6.6. BMKG’s chief Dwikorita Karnawati in a news conference gave a depiction of the earthquake and said: “From inside a house, it felt like a truck was passing through.”

Wahidi Halim, the Governer of Banten reported in an interview with Kompas TV that, a total of 4 homes, an Islamic school, and a mosque has been reported to have received damages.

Reports from Eyewitnesses and Residents

The meteorology agency reported that some residents fleed from their buildings because of the earthquake in panic. The earthquake tremors were felt very strongly in Jakarta.

A witness told Reuters that the tremors of the earthquake were felt very strongly for more than a minute.

The earthquake was also felt strongly in Western Java province and Lampung on Sumatra Island. Ani a nanny in a Jakartan residence said: “I was very scared, suddenly there was a quake and it was so strong. When I felt it I directly grabbed my employer’s baby and ran downstairs.”

A resident named Ade age 34, who lived on the 15th floor in a Banten apartment said: “I was in a Zoom meeting when people all shouted ‘Earthquake!’ The tremors were so strong and I was in shock, I couldn’t immediately get downstairs, I needed to steady my body.”

Indonesia has very frequent earthquakes as it lies near the “Pacific Ring of Fire” which is reported as a zone with very high seismic activity. Just a month ago, the country was struck with a 7.4 magnitude earthquake which triggered a tsunami but very minor damage was done.

Earlier today, Adalia’s family shared the heartbreaking news on social media telling their followers that she passed away yesterday.

Adalia Rose Williams was diagnosed with early age disorder and had a huge fan following on social media where she shared her daily life with her followers.

What is Early Aging Disorder?

The Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome or the Early aging disorder is a rare genetic condition. It is caused in children and has very similar symptoms as premature aging. Progeria is a fatal disease.

Progeria has no known cure and it makes children age at a rapid rate. The most common symptoms are hair loss, dwarfism, lack of body fat, stiffness in muscles and joints, and slow growth. According to an estimate by Progeria Research Foundation, almost 400 children suffer from this condition all over the world.

Adalia was only 3 months old when she started showing symptoms of early aging and was diagnosed with progeria. The average life expectancy of progeria is 13 years which Adalia outlasted with sheer will.

Adalia’s Life’s Journey

Adalia’s mother, Natalie Pallante in her 2018 interview with NZ Herald said: “When Adalia was born, I think it was she was like a month old and [the doctors] weren’t happy with her growth. That was one of the symptoms that first popped up and then it was also that the skin on her tummy was tight and just different looking.”

Then around 2012, Adalia started vlogging. In her vlogs, she uploaded everything about herself. From health updates to make-up tutorials, Williams shared everything with her followers. Soon enough she had the attention of the whole world and amassed 2.91 million subscribers on YouTube and 379,000 followers on Instagram.

Social Media’s Reaction

Adalia’s family shared the sad news on social media adding a picture of Adalia with the caption: “January 12, 2022, at 7 pm Adalia Rose Williams was set free from this world. She came into it quietly and left quietly, but her life was far from it. She touched MILLIONS of people and left the biggest imprint on everyone that knew her. She is no longer in pain and is now dancing away to all the music she loves. I wish this wasn’t our reality but unfortunately, it is. We want to say thank you to everyone that loved and supported her. Thank you to all her doctors and nurses that worked for YEARS to keep her healthy. The family would now like to mourn this huge loss in private.”

Michael Costello was among the thousands of people who shared their respects to her death. He is a designer who designed William’s dresses for her 13th birthday. He took to social media and paid his respects.

In another statement, the Executive vice-president of AstraZeneca, Mene Pangalos said: “Vaxzevria has protected hundreds of millions of people from COVID-19 around the world and these data show that it has an important role to play as a third dose booster, including when used after other vaccines.”

Andrew J Pollard, Oxford Vaccine Group’s chief investigator, and director at the University of Oxford said: “These important studies show that a third dose of Vaxzevria after two initial doses of the same vaccine, or after mRNA or inactivated vaccines, strongly boosts immunity against COVID-19.”

He also claimed that the vaccine from the combined efforts of Oxford and AstraZeneca is highly suitable as an immunity booster for the human population and the first two doses have already demonstrated how effective they are.

AstraZeneca claims that it has continued to progress the regulatory submissions to countries all over the world to use their vaccine as a third booster dose considering the ongoing urgency of the pandemic and the desperation for a solution.

A major house fire broke out in New Jersey. On early Thursday morning, a serious fire occurred in two homes in the West Deptford region of New Jersey. Injuries have been reported and both the homes have completely collapsed.

According to officials, the fire started at 4:15 in the morning on Thursday. The house in which the fire broke out is situated on Tatum Street in West Deptford. Pretty soon after the fire broke out, it spread to the neighboring house as well.

Injuries and Damage Caused

The latest reports say that at least two people have been injured and according to a statement, “two others persons are unaccounted for.” Now it has not been made clear if the persons who still missing are the same persons who were found injured.

A live broadcast from NBC 10 channel streamed that one of the houses have been completely crumbled by the fire. Firemen have been reported to be seen accounting for the total number of people. The extent of injuries caused to the reported people is still not known.

Current Situation of the Fire

According to the latest report received at 6:30 am, the fire has not been brought under control by the firemen yet. The house number has been identified and it is 1300 block of Tatum Street.

Reportedly, the fire spread very fast as it reached the second alarm in a very short time. And till now it has already reached three alarms.

The bigger flames that were shooting out of the houses have been brought under control by the firemen for now. Rumors were spreading that there were people trapped inside houses before the fire crew arrived.

The number of people stuck inside is yet to be known and the latest report from firemen told that not a single person has been rescued from the burning homes yet.

Reason for the Fire and Details of Residents

Currently, the reason as to why the fire started in the first place is yet to be discovered. Some neighbors told Action News that the residents living in the first house that caught fire were an elderly couple, their adult grandson, and supposedly the grandson’s wife and infant baby.

The family reportedly moved in last year in September. And the previous owners had renovated the house after leaving. The owner lady of the second house that caught fire has reported that everyone in her house had been self-evacuated. According to her, the residents of the second house are all accounted for and they are in ok condition.

A neighbor Tom Dougherty in a statement said: “I just feel bad for them. You work all your life and now it’s gone. It’s just gone. It’s unbelievable. I can’t believe that happened to them,”

The last report received said that the firemen are still at work trying to put down the fire and the road has been closed for incoming vehicles.
