Ronnie Spector, ‘Be My Baby’ Singer, Dies at 78

Ronnie Spector was the lead vocalist of the Ronettes, a female group from the 1960s known for such successes as”Baby, I Love You, “Be My Baby.” Ronnie Spector passed away on Wednesday. She was 78 years old at the time.

Her family released a statement saying she died after “a brief fight with cancer.” The statement revealed no more information.

The Ronettes, consisting of Ronnie, aka Veronica Bennett, her sibling Estelle, and her cousin Nedra Talley, changed the virginal paradigm that had characterized female pop artists since the 1940s with their high-piled hairdo, tight costumes, and sexual appearances.

“We weren’t afraid to be hot. That was our gimmick,” Ms. Spector wrote in her 1990 memoir, “Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness, or, My Life as a Fabulous Ronette.” “When we saw the Shirelles walk onstage with their wide party dresses,” she wrote, “we went in the opposite direction and squeezed our bodies into the tightest skirts we could find. Then we’d get out onstage and hike them up to show our legs even more.”

In the 1960s, “Be My Baby” was a pop hit that seemed to reflect both naivety and toughness, and it gained enduring respect from other performers. Mean Streets” by Martin Scorsese, Moonlighting, and Dirty Dancing’s Title Sequence all used it. From Amy Winehouse to Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, the band’s image and sound became a model for women in rock music.

In Spanish Harlem, New York, Veronica Greenfield Spector, the daughter of a Cherokee father, and African-American mother was born on August 10, 1943. Together with her cousin Nedra Talley. and sister Estelle Bennett, she established the Ronettes, a musical group that would go on to become legendary.
By 1963, they had established a following in New York City thanks to their heartfelt songs about youthful love, which was produced by Phil Spector. The Sister will later go on to marry Phil Spector.

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards remembered hearing the Ronettes warm-up backstage while the bands crossed bills on a 1960s tour. In 2007, Richards gave a statement honoring the Ronettes with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction award. Singing “over a wall of sound” was not a problem for them.

She also described the physical and emotional torture she suffered as a result of her husband’s behavior. For whatever reason, the band didn’t credit their producer when they were voted into the Roll Hall of Fame.

81-year-old Phil Spector, who’d been condemned to jail in 2003 for the death of a woman in his house, passed away in January.

The Ronettes broke up in 1967, and the next year, Ms. Spector wedded Mr. Spector. The singer claimed in her memoir that throughout their time together, he surrounded her with canines and removed her shoes, among many other unpredictable and mentally abusive conduct.
“I’d get drunk so I could go to rehab, just to get out of the house,” Ms. Spector told The New York Times in a 2000 interview.
Her last two albums are “English Heart,” and “The Last of the Rock Stars” didn’t garner much attention. In any case, she was content with the fact that she got to choose out her work and do what she love! sing!

The United States Senate recently proposed a long list of wide-ranging measures in opposition to a lot of Russian officials, among which is also the Russian President Vladimir Putin. And the Russian government is not happy about this decision.

Kremlin, the Russian government claimed that if the United States sanctions the Russian President, then that would be directly equivalent to the Senate severing all ties with Russia.

What are the Supposed Measures About?

On Wednesday, Bob Menendez, the Senator of New Jersey led a group of Democrat legislators and introduced a bill to the United States Senate. The bill’s primary concern is about restricting Russia if it ends up escalating tensions around Ukraine.

The supposed bill could also affect Nord Stream 2 which is a gas line project designed to move gas from Russia to Germany. The drafted bill also provides aid to Kyiv by giving $500 million as security aid.

The supposed bill proposes measures that are intended against Russia as a deterrent in case of a potential invasion of Ukraine by Russia. The primary reason behind this is that apparently, the western nations are accusing the Russian Capital Moscow of moving more than 100 thousand troops to the frontier.

That amount is no small number of military personnel and has instilled fear in western countries about a sudden military incursion planned by Russia.

Lastly but not least, the bill also sanctions a lot of Russian officials including:

The Reaction of the Russian Government

Dmitry Peskov, Spokesman of the Russian President claimed that the action by the United States Senate is comparable to breaking off relations with Russia, and sanctioning the President of Russia is an “over-the-top” measure.

When asked about the draft penalties the US Senate is planning which puts restrictions on Putin as well as possibly cripples the Russian banks, Peskov replied: “Moscow does not plan to respond to anything yet, because we still want to hope that at least some common sense will prevail. The imposition of sanctions against the head of state and the leader of Russia … is a measure that is comparable to severing relations.”

Democratic Senator Robert Menendez sent a message to the Russian Government claiming how war is a huge misstep and said: “Putin need not collapse his entire economy nor does he need to sacrifice the lives of his people in a futile attempt to rewrite the map of Europe.”

The tension between the two countries is still high and the back and forth arguments keep coming.

American award shows The Screen Actor Guilds (SAG) announced the award nominations for 2022 on Wednesday. Rosario Dawson and Vanessa Hudgens, came together to announce the award show. The award show was founded in 1952 and is a major Hollywood event.

There will be a slight delay in the release of Stalker 2, which has been anticipated by fans for the better part of a decade. Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl’s release date has been pushed out until the end of the year, according to developer GwSC Game World, who made the announcement today through social media. It was announced on Twitter that Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl would premiere on December 8, 2022, by GSC Game World. According to the studio, the extra time spent on production will allow the game to be more refined in the end.

“These additional seven months of development are needed to fulfill our vision and achieve the desired state of the game. Stalker 2 is the biggest project in the history of GSC, and it requires thorough testing and polishing. We are convinced that development should take as long as necessary, especially in the case of such a project,” the development team stated. “This decision is not an easy one, but we are doing the best possible to deliver you a game that can live up to the expectations.”

Stalker 2 is the logical next installment in the Stalker series, which has already seen three installments. The first game in the series, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, was a critical and commercial success in 2007. Clear Sky as well as Call of Pripyat were the next two.

The first Stalker was indeed a huge hit with players for a lot of good reasons, and Stalker 2 was revealed back in 2010 as well. Unfortunately, the title won’t be out until December of this year.

Singer-songwriter Colson Baker revealed on Instagram that he and actress Megan Fox got engaged. “Beneath the same branches we fell in love under, I brought her back to ask her to marry me,” he captioned his post alongside the video of Megan Fox donning her stunning new engagement ring.

Baker collaborated with Stephen Webster, a well-known jeweler, to create the ring. He chose a two-stone ring with her emerald birthstone and his diamond birthstone as the focal points, so it has sentimental value. Like he proceeded, “that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.”

Webster told Vogue that Baker’s romanticism had a profound effect on him.

“He wanted something that was completely original and meaningful to both Megan and himself. He fed me lots of material in an almost lyrical form. I used this to create the two rings which become one. I used magnets embedded in the gold to attract the two rings together when worn as one. Possibly the most romantic story I have had to work with,” Webster continued.

Footage of their proposal was posted on Fox’s social media accounts. Baker proposes to Fox behind a Banyan tree, and the video shows her fighting back tears as she welcomes his proposal. As her husband described the affair, she wrote her caption in a poetic verse style:

You cannot tell me that you did not enjoy swinging all around the Fortnite island using the Mythic web-shooters. And the fun is not over yet! It seems we will be getting some new additions to the available skins and hopefully more new cool goodies like goblin glider.

Mary Jane and Green Goblin Coming Soon

According to HYPEX, a reliable Fortnite leaker, it looks like we will be getting a total of three Non-Playable Characters (NPCs). Players apparently, will also be able to buy the same NPC skins in the item store.

The first NPC is Mary Jane, who is Spider-Man’s love interest in the movies and comics. Now here’s the most special thing you will be able to buy Spider-Man’s web-shooter from her. But here’s the twist, you can shoot an infinite number of webs from these shooters!

But these web-shooters are worth 400 gold, so start collecting folks. Although the character of MJ has already appeared in Fortnite as skin, that was Michelle Jones and not Mary Jane. So it seems the upcoming MJ will be based on the Mary Jane that appears in comics.

The next in line is the iconic villain from Spider-Man movies and comics, The Green Goblin. This rumor is based on the fact that there was a glider featured along with The Foundation when chapter 3 started this season.

Then there is also the fact that Epic Games said “Spider-Man’s friends and enemies are coming to the game”. Since we have yet to see a Spider-Man villain in Fortnite, Green Goblin looks like the first villain that comes to mind.

The Third Character Remains a Mystery

There are no prominent leaks that suggest what the third character from Spider-Man could be. There are tons of possibilities as a lot of characters are affiliated with Spider-Man and they have not made an appearance in Fortnite yet.

Still, the most likable choice would be Eddie Brock as he has already been featured in Fortnite two times. Plus, he is connected with Daily Bugle which is available as a location on Fortnite Island. But this time, he might not be appearing as a Non-Playable Character.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department in Michigan, TikTok personality Rory Teasley died at the age of 28 after being reportedly strangled by his 10-year boyfriend following a quarrel about a video game.

A disagreement between Docquen Jovo Watkins & Teasley led police to a suburban Detroit residence on Thursday night, according to local news station Click On Detroit. It was reported that Watkins and his partner had fought and that Teasley was “resting” on the couch, Watkins, said.

TikTok’s inventor was found unresponsive and not breathing when police arrived at the site. Medics confirmed the 28-year-old victim was dead at the scene. Watkins allegedly strangled Teasley following a quarrel about 2016’s one of the highest-selling shooter games “Overwatch,” according to the report. As per Oakland City Jail files, the boyfriend was then charged with homicide and is currently being detained without bail until Jan 18 court proceeding for a reasonable cause interference.

“We see far too often across the country these days when people resort to violence over trivial and insignificant disagreements,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard told Click On Detroit. “There is never a reason where violence is acceptable over a disagreement. Those who do so will be held accountable.”

Watkins and Teasley, according to reports, have been dating for ten years. When he died, Teasley had more than 200,000 fans and millions of views on TikTok, where he was known for creating comedy and dancing videos.

Who was Rory Teasley?

The reports of Sandler’s death are unfounded, and he is still alive and well today.

The 55-year old actor and comedian paid his respects to late Bob Saget after his sudden departure. Sandler wrote, “Great man. Funny as hell. Such a nice person. Love to Bob and his whole family.”

Between 1990 to 1995, Sandler featured on Saturday Night Live, a satirical television show. He appeared in the films Big Daddy, and Click in 2006, Happy Gilmore, Grown Ups 1 & 2, 50 first date, pixel, and many others. Sandler also lent his to Drax The Draculafor all the three Transylvania movies.

Sick Hoax

Hollywood celebs dying of false rumors aren’t new. In another bogus news report, it was stated that Jordan Terrell Carter, a rapper from Atlanta, had been discovered unconscious in his hotel room. It turned out to be a hoax. According to HITC, the message has gained over  28,000 shares, although it’s not clear who wrote it. This isn’t the first time the rapper’s wellness and health have been the subject of speculation.

According to Heavy, a bogus news report surfaced in 2019 claiming that Carti has perished in a vehicle accident in L.A. In the investigation, it was stated that “several controlled drugs” were in the rapper’s system at the time of the crash. This report is, once again, untrue. After rumors of a celebrity’s death spread online, many celebs had to verify that they were still alive and well.

In 2009 a hoax reported the death of Jeff Goldblum. Before anybody could realize it was a terrible prank, supporters of the Jurassic Park star flocked to offer their sympathies. When Jeff declared he would miss Goldblum more than anybody else, he looked to be laughing. Misinformation about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson falling to his death from a hill in New Zealand also surfaced in 2011.

I would love to meet the person who is starting rumors of my death — to show them how a dead foot feels up their a**.” the famed wrestler and Hollywood actor wrote in response to the internet haters.

In 2014, it was reported that Macaulay Culkin, the star of Home Alone, had died in his Manhattan residence. In response, he and his group The Pizza Underground posted two-staged images that imitated the 1989 comedy Weekend at Bernie’s. Along with the picture, Culkin said on Instagram, “We’re on tour, you silly people.”
