South Africa All-Rounder Chris Morris Retires from all Forms of Cricket

0

South African all-rounder Chris Morris announced his departure from cricket on Tuesday, and he plans to take up a coaching position with Titans, a local team in his home country.
Announcing the news on social media was a 34-year-old cricketer said-

“Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket! Thanks to all who have played a part in my journey whether it be big or small…it’s been a fun ride! Delighted to be taking up a coaching role at @titanscricket #lifebeginsnow.”

Fast bowler and aggressive batsman, Morris made his Test career debut in 2016 and played in four matches, scoring 173 runs and 12 wickets, in the conventional format. He played for South Africa in four tests, 42 one-day international matches, and 23 Twenty20 matches, taking 48 and 34 wickets in those matches. During his ODI and T20 career, Morris amassed a total of 467 runs with his explosive hits.

Chris Morris Cricket Career

At the 2013 auction, Chris Morris was sold for US$625,000, and three years later, he was sold for US$1 million. Morris is a dangerous lower-order batsman as well as a bowling all-rounder who often hits 140 kph. His father, Willie, was a first-class player in the Northern Transvaal province of South Africa.

Despite making his first-class appearance at the tender age of 22, Morris was only discovered by national scouts in his late twenties. This season, he took 21 wickets at an average of 12.66 in the local Twenty20 league and was selected to participate in a T20 tri-series in Zimbabwe.

Towards the end of the year, he put on a display in the 2012 Champions League for his team, the Lions. Morris’ seam attack, along with teammates Sohail Tanvir & Dirk Nannes, propelled the squad to the championship game. He was one of the most expensive IPL purchases, going to the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings for a price way more than his cheque of US$20,000.

Despite playing in South Africa’s provincial league rather than the franchise level in 2010-11, Morris had a strong first-class season, averaging over 60 runs per game with the bat. Additionally, he took 32 wickets at an average of 16.00 in the Sunfoil Series in 2012-13 and was called up to the Test team in 2014, three years later.

Morris made his first appearance in the New Year’s Test versus England in the 2015-16 season when South Africa’s bowling options were severely reduced by injuries. With a score of 69 in his first encounter, he created a lasting impact as a batsman and carried that performance into limited-overs cricket.

In the IPL, Morris has represented the Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. A stunning 3.32 crore was paid for him in the 2013 auction, making him the most valuable South African cricketer in Indian Premier League history.

China Commissioned Its First Nuclear-Powered ‘Artificial Sun’

0

According to Chinese official media, a nuclear fusion reactor ran five times hotter than the sun for over 17 minutes before setting a new benchmark for sustained high temperatures.

According to the Xinhua News Agency, the “artificial sun” dubbed as the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) achieved temperatures of 70,000,000C during the trials. Artificial sun devices are being developed with the ultimate goal of providing near-limitless renewable energy by simulating natural processes in stars.

“The development of nuclear fusion energy is not only a way to solve China’s strategic energy needs, but also has great significance for the future sustainable development of China’s energy and national economy.”

This Tokamak reactor is the nation’s biggest and comprehensive nuclear fusion research equipment, and experts believe it might unlock a tremendous source of clean energy. People’s Daily reports that it can achieve temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius—ten times warmer than the sun’s core—using an extremely strong magnetic field.

The reactor, which was finished late last year and is positioned in southwest Sichuan province, is sometimes referred to as an “artificial sun” because of the immense heat and electricity it generates.

As per project leader Gong Xianzu, an affiliate investigator at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Plasma Physics, a solid scientific and experimental foundation has been created for a fusion reactor. A total of over £700 billion has already been spent on China’s EAST project, which will continue its testing through the end of June.

Fusion is a sought-after and elusive sort of nuclear technology that researchers have been attempting to develop for years. Atomic nuclei are fused to create energy by fusion, which produces very little radioactive waste.

Fission, the atom-splitting technique now used in atomic warheads and power plants, is the polar opposite of this process. Although fission is more convenient, nuclear waste is generated. Fusion, on the other hand, is more difficult, but it is more environmentally friendly.

Solar power is generated by a fusion of nuclear nuclei, which is similar to the science of the sun and can be harnessed for electricity production.

Unlike the nuclear fission procedure that drives commercial nuclear energy production, this technology doesn’t require fossil fuels and doesn’t produce any toxic waste. According to physicists, environmental catastrophes are also less likely to occur.

When (ITER) the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor goes online in 2035, it will be the biggest nuclear fusion reactor ever built. China’s EAST project is a component of ITER. This project includes countries from across the world, notably Russia, United States India, South Korea, and Japan. The EAST project’s next objective is to keep the high temperature steady for an extended length of time.

China’s test could aid experts in their hunt for methods to reduce the prices of fusion, which is currently deemed prohibitively expensive.

Robert Durst, Real Estate Heir, Dies in Prison at 78

0

Robert Durst, a rich heir to the New York real estate who spent decades on the run after being linked to a string of mysterious disappearances and killings, has died unexpectedly. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his closest friend. He was 78 years old at the time.

After being transferred to San Joaquin Medical Center for testing, Durst’s lawyer Chip Lewis verified his death. Mr. Lewis reported that he fell into cardiac arrest and died as a result of the unsuccessful revival attempt. Robert Durst was convicted and was serving life in prison for murdering his longtime friend Susan Berman.

He was put on a ventilator shortly after his homicide conviction and tested positive for the Covid-19. Mr. Lewis said that the virus had worsened a variety of pre-existing health conditions.

“After 40 years spent seeking justice for her death, I know how upsetting this news must be for Kathleen Durst’s family,” Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah said in a statement Monday after news of his death. “We had hoped to allow them the opportunity to see Mr. Durst finally face charges for Kathleen’s murder because we know that all families never stop wanting closure, justice and accountability.”

According to tabloid newspapers, Mr. Durst was a cross-dressing criminal with over $100 million in assets who was on the run from the law. When he was on the loose, he became a wanderer who urinated in public and sometimes pretended to be a mute woman to do so. Forcing his wife to abort their child was only one of his many crimes against her.

He decapitated another victim as the body of the first lied in a puddle of his blood, and even left a “cadaver note” for the Los Angeles Police directing them to a lady who had been shot through the head. An HBO series about him was released in 2015 and featured a live video in which he unintentionally confessed to all of his murders.

Over forty years, Mr. Durst was accused of killing three people: his wife Kathleen Durst, Morris Black, and Susan Berman; all three were found dead in their respective apartments.

Kathie Durst, a medical resident nearing the conclusion of her education, disappeared without a trace in January 1982. Her husband, Robert Durst, claimed that after a quarrel at their suburban Westchester County weekend house, he sent her off to board a train back to The City, and that was the last place he had ever seen her.

As news of her disappearance spread, Durst called the NYPD to report her missing, and Berman was tapped to serve as his spokesperson. Kathie’s family members and the police worked tirelessly for years to find Kathie’s body but failed.

“Bob Durst has been around a lot of years, and he’s been able to commit a lot of horrific crimes. We just feel really gratified that he’s been held accountable,” Deputy District Attorney John Lewin remarked follwoing Durst’s conviction.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced a 14-month delay in the trial, which commenced in March 2020. During the trial, the prosecution depicted the defendant as a wealthy narcissist who mercilessly disposed of anybody who got in his face. They connected the dots between Berman’s murder, the disappearance of Kathie Durst, as well as the murder of Black.

Spider-Man No Way Home Sets Digital Premiere Date in February

Even in the face of ongoing Omicron and pandemic worries, Spider-Man: No Way Home is breaking movie office records once again. No Way Home’s North American total currently stands at about $668 million, thanks to the efforts of Marvel Studios as well as Sony Pictures. No Way Home just surpassed Jurassic World (2015) & Titanic (2015) as one of the 10 most popular domestic movies of all time. Tom Holland’s newest as Peter Parker is anticipated to exceed Russo brother’s Avengers: Infinity War (2018) on an all domestic box office earnings list.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be soon available to buy or rent on digital streaming services for those who haven’t yet gotten the chance to see the previous two Spiderman, namely Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield share the limelight with Tom Holland’s friendly neighborhood Spiderman.

Vudu has confirmed that Spider-Man: No Way Home would be available to buy on February 28, 2022, through their digital video shop. Fans may pre-order an SD, HDX, or UHD digital version of the film for $19.99. Apple TV, Google Play, and Amazon Prime Video, among others, are expected to distribute the movie on the same day.

On the other hand, it isn’t known when the movie will be available for free on subscription services like Disney+. Even though the streaming rights arrangement involving Disney and Sony is convoluted, No Way Home will probably be available on Netflix before it is available on the Disney+ service.

It may even be months before Disney+ members watch the newest Spider-Man movie in the MCU assuming Doctor Strange helps Netflix forget their arrangement with Sony.

If you haven’t gotten the chance to sit down and enjoy the movie yet, we’ll read it out for you. The official description of the Jon Watts film reads-

With Spider-Man’s identity now revealed, our friendly neighborhood web-slinger is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life as Peter Parker from the high stakes of being a superhero. When Peter asks for help from Doctor Strange, the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

If you want to see a movie in a cinema, check out Spider-Man: No Way Home while it’s still playing. Tobey Maguire along with Andrew Garfield both feature as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in the flick.  MJ is played by Zendaya once again, while Ned Leeds’ Parker’s closest buddy is played by Jacob Batalon. Benedict Cumberbatch once again reprises the role of Doctor Strange in the latest Jon Watts movie.

Willem Dafoe makes his return as the Green Goblin, and Alfred Molina once again carries the mantle of Doctor Octopus. Aunt May and Happy Hogan, played by Marisa Tomei & Jon Favreau, are also returning. Tony Revolori, who appeared in the original teaser as Flash Thompson, appears to have resumed his role, this time with a blonde hairstyle.

Hands down Spider-man: No way Home is among the best movies and the best MCU movie so far. The movie is still breaking box office charts and is now a movie towards an OTT release.

Microsoft Teams Allow you to Automatically Delete Stored Records in New Features

0

Pandemic has affected each one of us in numerous ways. The worst struck was the arena of education and corporate. Herein, apps like Microsoft Teams have been proven a bliss. The famous chat-based platform Microsoft Teams has introduced the latest feature to its list. Teams have recently allowed users to automatically delete the stored recordings. The new feature after a specified period will automatically delete recording files kept in OneDrive or SharePoint.

Now all of you might be wondering as to how the feature is gonna work? How is it going to turn out? Let us know. Reportedly, Microsoft introduced the new features in its December Teams collaboration platform updates. The collab also included end-to-end encryption for calls and fixing for a bug with Teams and Android. Accordingly, it was caused by some devices freezing after making an emergency call.

The auto-expiration option, which is enabled by default, can be disabled by administrators. But there is a twist as all-new recordings will automatically expire 60 days after being captured if no action is taken following the launch. Hence if you want to save the recordings you have to take the necessary action.

According to Microsoft the reason behind the update as it claimed that they have upskilled the feature’s deployment due to “overwhelming consumer requests.” Further, according to the firm, the default expiration date for all newly produced Teams’ meeting records (TMRs) is 60 days. This simply means that, by default, all TMRs formed after this capability was activated will be wiped 60 days after their creation date.

Further, the advanced feature lets you customize the meetings. Meetings can be fixed to never expire through the PowerShell commands or Teams admin center. The feature is described by Microsoft as a “lightweight cleaning strategy to reduce storage clutter” generated by outdated recordings, which typically consume 400 MB of cloud storage per hour of recording.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Release Date, Price, Expected Features, Leaks, And Rumors

0

Christmas is at the door knocking once again as the South Korean tech giant Samsung is gearing up to unveil its latest flagship dubbed as Samsung Galaxy s22. The successor to the recently released Samsung Galaxy S21, the aforementioned flagship’s specifications, and price are now leaked ahead of its formal release.

The Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra are all slated to be part of Samsung’s next non-foldable flagship series. A video clip has appeared online that shows the designs of the three flagship phones. The cellphones featured in the video have a similar design to those that have been previously appeared in recent leaks. Also, the existence of a ‘SuperClear Lens’ has been reported by a source for the Galaxy 22 as Galaxy S22 Ultra models.

Let’s know more about it in detail.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Expected Launch Date

Rumors indicate that the Samsung Galaxy S22 will be released in February. On February 9, the pre-orders will commence, and the official launch will take place on February 25, says the most recent rumor. According to the same source, Samsung’s supply chain troubles have delayed the release of the S22, which was earlier expected to arrive on February 8.

The galaxy S22 debut date has been pushed back to February, which would suggest that the Galaxy S22 series would release a bit after its predecessors in late January 2021.

However, this indicates that the Galaxy S22 will return to its more regular release schedule, which has traditionally been around the time of Mobile World Congress in February and so garnered the full focus of the cellphone industry at that time.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Price

The Galaxy S22 will be priced at $799, the Galaxy S22 Plus will cost $999, and last but not the least, Galaxy S22 Ultra will have you pony up $1,199, only if Samsung maintains its current pricing strategy.

Galaxy S22 phones may see inflation, according to a new report. The initial price of the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S22 Plus, as well as the Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to rise from $849 to $1,049 and $1,299, respectively. Given that it’s supposed to be a worthy successor to the Note, it’s not all that shocking that the phone has jumped in value similar to the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

That said, a new rumor claims that the Galaxy S22 will be priced the same as its predecessor at $799. The source of this information is SamMobile, and if this rumor is anything go by the pricing of Samsung’s non-Ultra devices would remain the same.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Design, Camera, and Specs

Considering past releases, the Samsung Galaxy S22 range is expected to have three distinct handsets in a variety of sizes. The 6.1-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen on the vanilla Galaxy S22 is thought to be the shortest of the bunch.

Galaxy S22 is expected to have a lower screen size than its predecessor, but it may have a narrower bezel and corner design as well, according to the video.

There are also a few differences between the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Galaxy S21 in terms of the curving corners. The phone will include a triple back camera, shown on the mock unit. The camera island on the Galaxy S22 as well as Galaxy S22 Plus has also seen a significant makeover.

After a thick camera island coupled with the highlighting hue appeared on the Galaxy S21 line, Samsung decided to eliminate it in favor of flushing the lenses into the device’s back panel entirely.

The recently announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 may be the primary processor of the Galaxy S22. According to a report that surfaced before Qualcomm released its new chipset, Samsung might be the manufacturer of the next Snapdragon processor.

According to reports, the vanilla S22 and S22 Pro will feature 8GB of RAM coupled with 256GB of storage, whereas the S22 Ultra would have an option of 12GB or 16GB of RAM & 256GB or 512GB storage. A fresh rumor claims that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage, each partnered with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

Another rumor suggests that the S22, as well as S22 Plus, will have 128GB and 256GB storage options, respectively, whereas the S22 Ultra would have a 512GB option. In addition, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may have a 1TB storage option, as previously reported.

Ice Universe has further information on the battery power of the Galaxy S22. As per a leak, Samsung’s Galaxy S22, as well as Galaxy S22 Plus phones, would have 3,800 mAh & 4,600 mAh batteries, respectively. There is no change expected to the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s battery capacity, which is expected to stay at 5,000 mAh.

The release date of Samsung’s Galaxy S22 line has not yet been revealed, although it is believed to be in February, so let’s keep our fingers crossed and keep reading.

Google and Android Joined Forces to Criticize Apple’s iMessage Policy

0

Seems like a tussle has happened between three tech giants recently. This is because tech experts Google and Android joined forces to criticize Apple’s iMessage Policy. Hiroshi Lockheimer, Google’s vice president of Android, Chrome, Chrome OS Play, and Photos, bombarded some harsh words for Apple’s iMessage policy. The core reason behind the same is Hiroshi Lockheimer thinks that Apple’s iMessage is a documented strategy sheerly for bullying.

Hiroshi expressed his anger and problem on Twitter through a tweet. Lockheimer wrote “Apple’s iMessage lock-in is a documented strategy. Using peer pressure and bullying as a way to sell products is disingenuous for a company that has humanity and equity as a core part of its marketing. The standards exist today to fix this.”

He tweeted through an article in The Wall Street Journal. The article was titled “How Apple’s imessage sealed its dominance with an army of texting”. He compared Apple’s actions to bullying, claiming that Apple’s rejection of RCS conflicts with their marketing principles of humanism and equity.

What is RCS?

You might be pondering upon what is RCS? How is it connected? So here is the thing RCS is a Rich Communication Service and simply a protocol of messaging. It further is an Android messaging standard that aims to replace SMS. It exposed Android users to several of Apple’s iMessage’s core features, such as read receipts and typing bubbles.

It’s essential because RCS has been in the works for a long time, and it aims to introduce some WhatsApp-like features to SMS, such as typing indicators, chat bubbles, reading receipts, and the ability to exchange high-quality photos.

The messaging service will be a lot faster in general. If Apple decides to open up to the new RCS standard, these functions will no longer be exclusive to iMessage. The scolding from Google’s top executives implies that the search giant has had enough of Apple’s iMessage policy.

But Lockheimer was not alone bashing apple. Android too came forward for its support and expressed its agreement to Hiroshi’s tweet. The retweet that Android made read “iMessage should not benefit from bullying. Texting should bring us together, and the solution exists. Let’s fix this as one industry.”

Android at the end of the tweet added a few colorful hearts as the message of love. Netizens are doubting maybe Android doesn’t want to be in Apple’s bad books and hence wishes to sort the issue peacefully.

This isn’t the first time Lockheimer, a Google executive, has tweeted about iMessage adopting RCS. “Group chats do not have to break like this. There is a Very Simple Solution. In October of last year, Lockheimer tweeted, “Here’s an open invitation to the folks who can make this right: we are here to help.”

Therefore, we know that there be a cold war that has been going between Google and Apple for a considerable time. Hence, these tech giants need to resolve the same as it can pose future harm. Because a lot of youth are now switching to Apple, this tussle can emerge as a threat to users.

China’s Tianjin on Partial Lockdown After 2 Omicron Cases Found

0

Omicron is baring its fangs in China.

The Chinese Government has imposed a partial lockdown in the city of Tianjin as soon as new cases of Omicron variant of the coronavirus were found.

According to authorities, a total of 20 COVID-19 cases were found on Sunday, and among these, 2 were found to be infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

These newfound cases have added to the city’s total tally of the cases found in total. The total tally rose above 40 as 21 more cases were added to it by Monday.

The Circumstances in China

Even though the numbers found are small, these numbers could still lead China to face its first local outbreak of Omicron.

China follows a very strict zero-tolerance strategy whose motto is to ‘eliminate the virus rather than live with it.’ And this policy is being implied even more strictly as the time remaining for the Winter Olympics is less than a month.

Tianjin is located 115 km away from Beijing where the Winter Olympics will be held on February 4. A lot of people travel between the two cities regularly, either by car or in the high-speed rail links.

The two other cities Xi’an and Yuzhou have reported larger outbreaks of delta variants of coronavirus. Due to that, people living in Xi’an have been imposed to a lockdown for more than two weeks however the decreasing numbers are being reported so the lockdown can be lifted soon.

Strict Measures Are Being Taken

The State Broadcaster CCTV has reported that the Chinese Government has divided the city of Tianjin along with its 14 million residents into three restriction levels:

  • Lockdown Areas, where the residents are completely confined in their homes and no one is allowed to leave.
  • Control Areas, where only one member from each household is allowed to buy groceries every other day.
  • Prevention Areas, where the residents are allowed to go out of their homes but they should not leave their neighborhood in any case.

All the public transports including trains and buses going from Tianjin to Beijing have been temporarily suspended and no resident is allowed to leave the city unless it is extremely urgent.

The authorities in Tianjin have also started mass testing the residents and the people who are in need to leave the city will have to obtain official permission and get tested for coronavirus within 48 hours of their departure.

Until now, the country has reported approximately 12 cases of the omicron variant. Among these cases, most of the people have been those that arrived in the country from abroad and were in isolation.

Myanmar’s Suu Kyi Sentenced to 4 More Years in Prison

0

Ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been sentenced to four more years in prison by a court in Myanmar. According to a legal official, this decision was announced after she was found guilty of illegal import and violating coronavirus restrictions.

Who is Suu Kyi?

Aung San Suu Kyi is a 1991 Nobel Peace Prize winner. She is a politician, diplomat, and author. She also has been awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Suu Kyi was a serving State Counsellor of Myanmar as well as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2016 to 2021, after which she was ousted by the Military.

The politician has spent years under house arrest because of previous regimes under Myanmar’s previous military.

The Charges on Suu Kyi

Last month Aung San Suu Kyi was convicted on the charges of ‘incitement’ and breaching COVID-19 protocols and then ordered a sentence of 4 years in prison. This was later halved by the Military-installed government’s Head, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing.

And now she has been sentenced to 4 more years in prison after she was found guilty of illegally importing and possessing walkie-talkies. She was also held guilty for violating the restrictions places because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A legal official reported that she was sentenced to two years of prison because of the illegal import and one year under telecommunications law for the possession of walkie-talkies. And a two-year sentence was imposed under Natural Disaster Management Law for allegedly violating COVID-19 rules during her campaign.

The Circumstances in Myanmar

The Nobel Laureate has denied all charges placed on her. Aung San Suu Kyi is on trial in a closed court currently and her sentence could be a total of more than 100 years in prison if she is declared guilty against all the charges placed on her.

The State Television last month said that the sentences on Suu Kyi will be applied to her current detention place. However, it has not been clear where she is currently being held and if the same approaches will be taken in this case.

The new convictions placed on Suu Kyi were “the latest act in the farcical trial against the civilian leader,” said the rights group Amnesty International on Twitter. The group also called for her release and also the thousands of ‘unjustly detained’ people since the coup.

Reports say that the trial of the diplomat in Naypyitaw, the capital of Myanmar has been completely closed off from media and all of Aung San’s lawyers have been ordered not to release information to the media or the public.

The situation is dire and there is little to no information regarding the trial.
