Another huge loss for Australian cricket within 24 hours.
The legendary cricket player and unarguably the greatest leg-spinner in the history of cricket, Shane Warne has passed away today. He died because of a suspected heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand, and was 52 at the time of his death.
This news comes as a devastating blow, especially for Australian cricket and its fans within the span of 24 hours as Rod Marsh, the former Australian wicketkeeper also passed away on Friday after suffering a major heart attack last week.

Who Was Shane Warne?
There would be very few people involved with the cricket industry who would not have come across Shane Warne’s name in the history of cricket. Shane has been widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers to have ever played the game.
Shane was part of the legendary Australian cricket team that shook the world with its might at that time. Shane’s cricket career spanned 15 years’ time where he took a massive 708 Test Wickets, second only to Muttiah Muralitharan, the off-spinner of Sri Lanka.
In the part of his career, Shane also got the opportunity to lead the Australian cricket team. His fiercest rivalry was with Indian batsman, Sachin Tendulkar where he also used to mention how he dreamt of Sachin smashing him all over the park.

Shane was affectionately called ‘Warnie’ by many and was adored not only by Australian cricket fans but the whole world. He was part of the Australian cricket team when they won the world cup in 1999.
Warne also holds the record for bagging the most amount of Ashes wickets as a bowler in cricket history.
After Retirement
After Shane officially retired from the field, he certainly didn’t retire from cricket as he continued to take part in the commentary of the matches from then onwards.
He commentated in some of the most prominent and prestigious cricket tournaments and series including the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the Ashes, and the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Warne’s Death
It was Warne’s management that confirmed the death of the former bowler. The management confirmed his death to the media outlet Fox Sports in a statement where they said: “Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived.”
The management also requested to let the family of Shane grieve his death in privacy and added to the statement: “The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course”.
