Moon Knight is getting closer to its Disney+ release, which means that marketing for the show is picking up. The promotion game was scaled up when a better and new look was released by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel fans can now very well adjudge at Moon Knight’s Egyptian deity of the Moon, Khonshu, according to a new image from an upcoming issue of Empire. The deity, played by F. Murray Abraham, grants the titular hero his powers at a price. Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, Gaspard Ulliel, and May Calamaway star in Moon Knight.
A huge hiatus was faced by marvel as 2020 became the first year since 2009 when a marvel movie didn’t come. This break was obviously due to the long pandemic that was going on around the world.
The hiatus has excited marvel fans even more and every single snippet of the Moon Knight series is elating the fans even more. The character of Oscar is described as a complex character. The character develops an identity disorder and also becomes the agent of Khonshu.
The series as per snippets and glimpses reveal is going to be an interesting one. In 2022, the Marvel Cinematic Universe expands across the Multiverse. Khonshu was resurrected the recently killed mercenary Marc Spector during a failed mission in Egypt.
This was a part of Moon Knight’s updated origin in Moon Knight #1 in 1980 by Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz. Spector becomes the Egyptian god’s avatar, fully healed and endowed with talents such as improved strength, endurance, reflexes, and mental capacities.
With the qualities Khonshu bestowed upon him, he protects the innocent and punishes the wrongdoers. Khonshu will make his debut live-action appearance in the upcoming Disney+series, voiced by Abraham.
Marvel has always been known for the huge realm of gods, superhumans, and cosmic entities. Fans have gotten a clearer look into his on-screen persona thanks to a recently discovered image. When talking about the age slab for the upcoming TV series, the slab is the same i.e. 14+ years of age.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has claimed that the series will be a severe departure from the standard tone seen in most Marvel works. The reason behind the same was Khonshu’s appearance being less ornate and more horrific with the series exploring Marc’s Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Moon Knight, undoubtedly will be the most anticipated series of 2022 from Marvel. While all of Moon Knight’s marketing has focused on Spector’s inner turmoil, EMPIRE’s first look at Khonshu introduces viewers to a new character in the MCU.
While Thor, Doctor Strange, the Scarlet Witch, and the Eternals all drew influence from mythology and mysticism. Their approaches were more grounded, aiming to explicitly explain the laws and approaches.
Khonshu, on the other hand, remains a mystery, with some questioning if he is a true being or an invention of Marc’s. As a result, Khonshu’s debut in the MCU is more sinister, making him an interesting figure.
