BGCSD’s Polster Clubhouse Debuts Teen Center
The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito’s (BGCSD) Polster Clubhouse in Carmel Valley recently debuted a new Teen Center, made possible by a generous donation from Del Mar Highlands Town Center. The teen-only space serves over 40 registered seventh and eighth graders from Carmel Valley and Pacific Trails Middle Schools, and features new furniture, computer workstations, a ping-pong and shuffleboard table, and an entertainment/video game center. The Center provides a positive environment for students to learn, make new friends, and develop good character and leadership skills.
“The Center provides a positive environment for students to learn, make new friends, and develop good character and leadership skills.”
Programming at the Teen Center includes Power Hour, a high-yield learning and tutoring program that provides a dedicated time and space for club members to study, do homework, and get the academic support they need. Teens will also have the opportunity to participate in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Fine Art Exhibit program, community service activities, and experiential learning STEAM activities. “With the support of Del Mar Highlands Town Center, we are able to ensure that Great Futures Start Here!” said BGCSD Chief Executive Officer Marineke Vandervort. “We hope to strengthen this relationship for the benefit of all youth in our community.”
As the longest-serving youth organization in the San Diego community, BGCSD is dedicated to providing positive activities to develop the education, health, self-esteem, and character of youth. BGCSD has seven clubhouses in Carmel Valley, Encinitas, Del Mar, and Solana Beach, serving over 6,500 members. Learn more at www.bgcsandieguito.org.
