Passion for Dance

Pacific Arts Dance Center Creates an Inspiring and Motivational Artistic Community

cs_pacificarts4Pacific Arts Dance Center (PADC) offers a wide variety of classes for dancers of all levels. From the audition-only Ballet Academy and Competition Contemporary teams to lessons in many genres of dance including ballet, pointe, jazz, hip-hop, tap and musical theatre, PADC is dedicated to students who share a desire to grow in the art of dance. “We also offer classes in stretch and flexibility, turns and leaps and acro, as well as drop-in classes for adults in the mornings and evenings and on-going workshops in specialized genres such as Afro-Brazilian dance,” revealed Marie Arts, artistic director of PADC.

According to Marie Arts, the last name she was born with aptly reflects her passion for dance, a passion she has held for as long as she can remember. “I have an extensive background in choreography and dance education and have taught professionals and students throughout the United States,” said Marie, also an award-winning national choreographer. There are currently 24 professionals and staff at PADC, all with extensive professional dance experience, including a former Bolshoi Ballet soloist, an international ballet examiner, Broadway stars, and top hip-hop and commercial dance artists.

“We foster creative thinking in a positive environment, and we want students to integrate their own artistry into the well-rounded dance training we provide. We want to create independent future artistic leaders.”

cs_pacificarts2PADC was born when two dance studios, Del Mar Ballet and RAPA, merged to create one artistic community hub. The timing for the merge of the two studios was perfect, as Merge Carmel Valley was just being developed into a mixed-use center. “Our facility is gorgeous and sunny! There are windows all around, and our largest studio has doors that completely open onto a spacious balcony,” said Marie. According to her, the physical beauty of the space is matched by the positive and welcoming environment at PADC. “Our goal is to provide exceptional ballet and dance training to all levels and ages of students. We foster creative thinking in a positive environment, and we want students to integrate their own artistry into the well-rounded dance training we provide. We want to create independent future artistic leaders,” Marie said.

Dancers at PADC also have the opportunity to perform in annual productions, as well as in performances throughout the Carmel Valley, Del Mar and San Diego community. Upcoming productions include The Nutcracker at California Center for the Arts on Dec. 15 and 16, and Beauty and the Beast, scheduled for June 15 and 16, 2019.
