Outpost Summer Camps Offers Exciting Summer Experiences for Campers

photos provided by Outpost Summer Camps

The team at Outpost Summer Camps believes that, now more than ever, children should have the opportunity to be away from their electronic devices for extended periods of time. And, of course, there is nothing better than a summer day-camp experience to make that a reality. Founded in 2001, the camp serves over 1,500 children every summer in a completely outdoor and screen-free environment. Their core mission is to provide group-centered, enriching, and traditional camp experiences for children and young adults. The Outpost experience has three “pillars” that parents have loved for more than 15 summers: door-to-door transportation, “old-fashioned” camp activities (think MUD!), and exceptional, well-trained staff that ensure a quality experience for each child.

outpostsummercamps2

Outpost is open to children ages 3 to 14, and according to Owner/Director Stuart Jones, “Each of our camps has exciting, age-appropriate activities for the different age groups, but all share in the philosophy of creative, spontaneous fun facilitated by the counselors and campers.” The camp’s three-week sessions are what make Outpost so unique in today’s norm of week-long programs. Stuart explained, “By staying longer at camp, children of all temperaments have enough time to learn names, get completely comfortable with routines, and make and keep new friends.” Cultivating friendships and making meaningful connections is one of the most rewarding and fun aspects of a camp experience, so Outpost strives to make this a priority for campers.

outpostsummercamps4Another way the camps stand out is with their continuous commitment to safety. Outpost Summer Camps has been continuously accredited by the American Camp Association since inception and operates under San Diego County permit as an organized camp. The team at Outpost takes both the physical and emotional safety of campers seriously. The camp’s staff is trained in American Red Cross CPR and prior to the start of camp, they participate in comprehensive sessions on emergency procedures, crisis management, positive discipline, and child development. Ultimately, they strive to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all campers.

Stuart and his wife Kelly, a clinical psychologist, run the camp as their family business, bringing years of child development experience to Outpost. Additionally, the duo hires, trains, and retains their director team from their best counselors, who have invested 8 to 10 years at the camps and are specialized in their programs. RSF Attack Soccer

camp_RSFsoccer_logo

RSF Attack Soccer offers camps for both recreational and competitive players during the summer in Rancho Santa Fe. The recreational camps are designed for players who want to have fun while working on their technical ability and improving their skills. The camps run for five days in the mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and are offered in June and August. On a typical day, the campers will participate in a group warm-up and then break into their age and skill-appropriate groups for the rest of the morning. The camps maintain a small coach-to-camper ratio so that RSF Attack coaches are able to interact personally with each camper, better providing them with skill development. All campers receive a customized ball and t-shirt.

Attack Player Development Camps have been designed for ambitious players who are committed in their development to the dynamic ball-possession style of the modern game. The themes throughout the week include improving ball mastery, possession with purpose to attack, creativity in the final third, goal scoring, defensive intensity, and maintaining a composed but aggressive mindset. The player will leave the camp with enhanced fundamental technique and improved game intelligence, and will be inspired to play with greater confidence. Campers should come ready to work with like-minded, high-level players and a desire to improve their game. These camps run for four days, typically in the morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

All Attack camps are conducted by Director of Coaching Malcolm Tovey and the Attack professional staff of coaches. To learn more about Attack Soccer Camps, visit www.RSFsoccer.com or contact the office at 760-479-1500.

Mathnasium of Carmel Valley

mathnasium_logoThe Mathnasium team believes that every child has the ability to be successful in math. It’s a matter of teaching in a way that makes sense to them.

Studies have shown that over summer vacation, students can lose a significant amount of math computational skills learned during the school year. With the pressures and time constraints of the school year at a standstill, summer is the perfect time to catch up and get ahead in math.
mathnasium_cv

Mathnasium summer programs are designed to address summer learning loss or the “summer slide.” All teaching takes place at the center – no extra homework. Trained instructors will help your kids retain what they learned in math class this year, so they’re well equipped for a strong start in the fall.

When math makes sense, kids excel – whether they need to catch up or want to get ahead! Learn more at www.Mathnasium.com/CarmelValley.

Summer Camps | K-12: June 18 – July 27 Preschool: June 4-29

Local parents and children looking for PRE-12 summer enrichment at reasonable prices in a safe and nurturing environment can find a wide variety of academic, athletic, and fun-filled options at Maranatha Christian Schools (MCS). “MCS offers over 20 enrichment classes and sports camps combined,” explained Julie Elliott, Director of Summer Camp Programs. “We also offer a Summer Games Program, which is a one-week multi-sports camp for ages 5 to 12. MCS partners with K.I.D.S. Therapy Associates to welcome special needs students to the camp.” One of the most popular MCS camps is Summer Theatre Arts Camp, a two-week session for junior high and high school students that culminates in students performing a Broadway Showcase production. “Our theatre camp has become so popular that inquiries are already rolling in. It fills to capacity every year, and spaces fill up quickly,” revealed Ms. Elliott.

The program is designed to allow students to mix and match academics with fun classes for a well-balanced camp experience. Academic enrichment options range from general kindergarten up to ninth grade, including subject-specific English, math, and science courses. Fun classes include indoor and outdoor sports and games, STEAM classes, arts and crafts, cooking, and other extracurricular fields to explore.

General summer camp sessions are broken into two three-week sessions, allowing for part-time or full-time attendance. Students can attend a single class or multiple classes that are divided into morning and afternoon schedules. Theatre camp will be offered during one two-week session (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.).

GC Dance Company

camp_gcdance_logoStudents thrive year-round in GC Dance Company’s (GCDC) creative, supportive programs, and summer camps are a unique opportunity for dancers of all backgrounds to leap further into the world of dance. “We offer a great mix of recreational and technique intensives so dancers of all ages and levels can continue to grow over summer break,” explained Gabriella Carter, GCDC Owner and Director.

Each week has a different theme sure to tap into young imaginations, from Moana to The Greatest Showman. Ages three to six can release their inner royal at Prince & Princess Camp, a fun, enriching song and dance week focusing on a ballet character and story every day. Ages three to eight explore the world of dance in Jungle Boogie, an animal-inspired program that teaches campers jazz, ballet, tap, and musical theater.

camp_gcdance

All ages are invited to Hip-Hop Camp, which introduces one of today’s most popular dance forms – campers learn popping, locking, break dance, footwork, and more. The two-week Triple Threat Training is also open to all ages. Prepare for Broadway with one week of dance, voice, and acting coaching, then spend the second week rehearsing for the big showcase.

Students and parents value the culture of excellent instruction and love of dance. “All of the teachers at GCDC have the same mentality: to motivate each student to work hard, do their best, and have fun,” said GCDC parent Jodi Sabol.

Camps run weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 or 2 p.m. in Solana Beach. All camps conclude with special Friday performances to showcase campers’ artistic achievements for friends and family. Registration is open! Visit www.GCDanceCompany.com or call 858-704-4343.

At Robolink Robotics Camp, they’re going to learn how to build actual robots, pilot drones, and develop their programming skills.
