Brandon Nakashima, a junior at High Bluff Academy in Carmel Valley, was named the 16s Singles Champion at the USTA Boys 18s and 16s National Championships held in Kalamazoo, MI in August. The tournament is the single most important event of the year for over 400 top-ranked junior tennis players across the country. It consists of 10 days of intense tennis competition, with players vying to win the championship title and the wild card into the main draw of the U.S. Open Jr. Tournament. In the 16s Singles, Brandon, the No. 1 seed, needed just 55 minutes to defeat his doubles partner, No. 8 seed Stefan Dostanic to win the championship. Brandon did not lose a set in the entire tournament, losing just 24 games en route to the title. He earned the wild card to the U.S. Open Junior and was also invited to play in the Jr. U.S. Davis Cup in Europe. Learn more at www.ustaboys.com.
