Fourteen young performers from 92130 recently lent their talents to the production Once On This Island. The musical is an original interpretation of The Little Mermaid. Ti Moune, a peasant girl, rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of the island. Their love has to overcome the prejudices of their society – and the obstacles set by the ominous, interfering gods of water, death, love, and the earth.

Once On This Island was presented by J*Company Youth Theatre, with a talented cast of kids under the leadership of Artistic Director Joey Landwehr. The show ran in May, with all performances taking place at the David and Dorothea Garfield Theatre at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center. Learn more at
