17th Annual Tea and Tonic
Annual Fundraiser Increases Awareness of Domestic Violence
The Center for Community Solutions (CCS) held their 17th Annual Tea & Tonic event in late May to raise much-needed funds in support of their mission to prevent domestic violence and other types of assault. Since 1969, the San Diego-based nonprofit has been committed to solving the problems of relationship violence and abuse, improving the lives of survivors, and changing the social conditions that tolerate their existence.
One of their largest annual events, this year’s fundraiser hosted a number of guests that contributed to the cause. Among the crowd was keynote speaker and TV star AnnaLynne McCord. AnnaLynne is an actor, writer, and director best known for her roles in Nip/Tuck and 90210. A longtime activist, AnnaLynne is passionate about empowering young women to overcome abuse. Her genuine efforts have even been recognized by Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro, who awarded AnnaLynne the United States Congressional Honor for her work.
In addition to the keynote speech, guests experienced a champagne reception, high tea service, a raffle, and musical entertainment. To keep with the afternoon’s overall theme of empowerment, various community heroes were honored on stage. Tea & Tonic also offered CCS a platform to raise overall awareness of its various types of assistance. All proceeds from the afternoon benefited the support, prevention, and intervention programs that CCS provides for more than 10,000 victims each year. For more information visit www.ccssd.org.
