Committed and Loyal

Frederick Schenk’s commitment extends across his personal and professional life, exemplified by his loyalty to his family, law firm, and the 22nd District Agricultural Association Board of Directors. As an attorney, board member, husband, and father, Frederick serves the San Diego community in many capacities.

volunteer_frederick_1Appointed in 2002 to the 22nd District Agricultural Association, otherwise known as the Del Mar Fairgrounds Board, Frederick has played a variety of roles in the growth and success of the organization, most recently serving as president. Of his accomplishments, he stated, “I am especially proud of the way in which we have expanded community outreach and educational programs at the San Diego County Fair.” This includes healthy eating education, unique agricultural and livestock experiences, and the Don Diego Scholarship Fund that provides buses for children who would not otherwise be able to attend the fair. The board has also made major alterations to the turf and dirt tracks, ensuring a safer facility for the horses and jockeys. They also run a recycling program that diverts over 90 percent of the materials from the fair, a financial benefit of over $1.2 million.

As for the future, Frederick shared, “I would like to see our fairgrounds increase the number of people who are able to access our magnificent property during peak seasons while lowering the need for automobile traffic to the grounds.” A seasonal train stop tops his wish list. As a board member, he acknowledged, “I hope to continue to play an important role in running this world-class facility, focusing on agriculture, education, entertainment, recreation, and sustainability.”
