Canyon Crest Academy (CCA) and Torrey Pines High School (TPHS) ranked 117 and 336 out of 500, respectively, on Newsweek’s “America’s Top High Schools” list this year. The high school rankings assess schools based on a broad range of data to determine which institutions do the best job of preparing students for college. CCA was given a college readiness score of 83.8 and has a 100 percent graduation rate. TPHS was given a 78.5 college readiness score and has a 96.4 percent graduation rate.

The college readiness score was based on a weighted index of six indicators including college enrollment rate, graduation rate, weighted AP/IB/Dual Enrollment composite, weighted SAT or ACT composite, student retention rate, and counselor-to-student ratio. Newsweek also identified schools that do an excellent job of preparing their students for college while at an economic disadvantage, titled “Beating the Odds.” For more information on both lists visit www.newsweek.com/high-schools/americas-top-high-schools-2015.
