Magic at the Movies

The 2014 San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival (SDIKFF), which strives to promote educational and innovative films for a positive impact on children, screened over sixty films from almost forty different countries this year, wrapping up with an awards ceremony at the AMN Healthcare Theater in 92130. The festival showcases films from all over the world to provide young aspiring filmmakers a channel to communicate with an international community. SDIKFF hosted four panel discussions that covered topics including co-production, distribution, film funding, and screenplay. International film makers from seven countries were in attendance, as well as a local youth jury that helped award the films. The SDIKFF hosted film delegates from China, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, and the United States during the event.

A variety of artists performed at the red carpet event and award ceremony. Out of the selected forty-eight shorts chosen, one by Oscar-nominated animator John R. Dilworth, and the eleven feature films, the SDIKFF jury awarded twenty-four. Awards were presented for categories such as Best Feature, Best Short, Best Kids Made Film, Student Film Award, Best Screenplay, Best Comedy Film, Make a Difference Award, and much more. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners, including Grand Jury Prize Winner for Best Feature Feeling the Love Flute, and Grand Jury Prize Best Short Winner 0 Gravity.
