On Sept. 27, Canyon Crest Academy (CCA) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate its new track that was funded by Proposition AA. Many notable dignitaries from the San Dieguito Union High School District were in attendance, including President Barbara Roth, Vice President Amy Herman, and Assistant Superintendent Eric Dill. Also present were CCA’s Principal Karl Mueller, Vice Principal/Athletic Director Jeff Copeland, and CCA Foundation VP for Athletics Karen Dillen. The CCA girls varsity field hockey team were honored to be the first ones to use the new artificial turf field for their game against San Dieguito Academy following the ceremony. By next year, CCA plans to also add two new outdoor fields for baseball, and two for softball. Karen Dillen enthusiastically stated in her speech, “It used to be that when we traveled, the
parents of the other team would ask, ‘Canyon
Crest Academy – where is that?’ They’ll remember
us now!”
